`62 engine swap
I just bought a 1962 C10 with a six in it and was wondering if anyone can guide me through the motor mount process for puting in a 350. The truck doesnt have side motor mounts and I dont have a donor truck that had a V8 in it to rob from. The truck has a 4 speed granny transmission. Any Help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: `62 engine swap
Manual trans 62's with either 6 or 8 used the front mount. Autos did not. The 6cyl 235 used a different bell-housing than the V8 also. You would need a 60-62 V8 bell-housing with hyd clutch set-up + the front Horse-shoe front mount (i think the 6cyl mount is different) You didn't say if changing to an auto trans with the 350? If auto you could use after-market cross-members (under eng and trans or find some stock auto side mounts) It.s not as easy to do this swap on 60-62's as 63-66. Hoped this helped some--good luck.

I am currently doing this with a '60. Found the bellhousing through a member here, Found the front mount on Ebay. Expect to spend 200 - 300 on bellhousing and 100 - 150 on front mount. (Thats when you can find them for sale) Will also need a V8 throttle lever. I do know where there is a '62 parts truck in central Iowa with all the good stuff you would need. Its rough but complete $600 If you can fabricate and not going for the original look might be better off to sidemount it. |

Re: `62 engine swap
I'm just ironing out the wrinkles on my '62, put a 383 with a 700r in it. I ended up getting some motor mounts out of, I believe a '71. I had to shim them up a little bit, the frame on a '62 isn't as tall. As far as the 4-speed not sure what you will have to do. I cut the old mounts out where the 3-speed sat.
