How many of these do I actually need?

Soon I'll be installing 1990 model Suburban buckets in my 87 Silverado. How many brackets do I actually need, out of a suburban? I have 2, which I purchased from a member here a while back.

But how many do I actually need? Do I need 2 brackets out of a burb, or 4? And do I need anything for the back? Or do I just need concern myself only with the front?

I watched these videos a year or so ago as this guy goes through the whole process, including brackets.

just the 2 brackets. They go on the front inside tracks. You will need to drill the rear hole. You can just nut n bolt it or you can weld a nut on a small tab of metal, that way it has some area to tighten against the floor, not just the washer or nut. The outer tracks bolt to the existing holes front and back. I did this exact install on my 91 crew.

Re: How many of these do I actually need?

Thanks those videos are really helpful. I didn't know I could use the seat tracks off of a bench to help me get the buckets installed.

So really, that's all I need. Just the brackets I posted in the pic, and the old seat tracks. Would you say that is accurate? That is the way it looks anyway

If the brackets would take the place of the stands he built in the video, I say go for it.

Take a bunch of pictures and do a post. Would love to see how they work.

Re: How many of these do I actually need?

I'll see about taking some pictures. I can't be sure if they'll be step by step, but I can take some pics of the process, here and there.

It looks like I'm going to have to have those brackets in the pic, welded in. I'll grind the off of the floor steel that they're currently welded to. Then they need to be welded to my floor instead.

Unless, I just make my own bracket like he did. Then I can just make bolt holes. I'd really, really like to avoid any welding.

I'd like to ask you guys' opinion.

Do yall think its a good idea to do this without welding? To just bend up the necessary iron pieces into the correct position, and then put bolts through the iron and into the floor?

Modern cars just have the seats bolted in, but a couple of these iron pieces are a bit... long. Not quite like a seat track that just sits on the floor.

It wouldn't be an issue just bolting them in place.
