Re: Faux wood bed floor from LMC

For the money, I wood stay old-school! (Ha, pun intended) I have not seen this kit in person, so don't take my word on it, but it's not painted, it's a laminate (glued to aluminum) which has had some real benefits in kitchens and such, but I still prefer wood. Even as wood ages and wears, it still appeals to me. I could not get over a laminate tear or scuff on my truck with the shiny aluminum showing through, but a gouge or split in the wood is "character". I bet that the strength is adequate unless you are talking about it taking a hit and then it's gonna dent easily. I suppose it would be fine for a show truck, BUT wouldn't wood still outshow it in a competition due to it's fakeness?

And, being laminate, I bet the patterns repeat. That wood not be acceptable to my attention to detail and anal-retentive-ness.

Re: Faux wood bed floor from LMC

I’m quite familiar with this product and thought I’d add a few facts... 1) pattern never repeats, in fact it’s a true image of old growth/old world wood. All boards are “bookended” furniture grade and were found in a supply house closed in 1917...
2) should a board become damaged, it can be replaced or repaired by the manufacturer.
You’ll find a code on the reverse side...
3) Along with UV resistance, scratch, scuff, stain and chemical resistance is high. Warping, splitting and cracking are a thing of the past...
4) Most nicely finished truck don’t go out in the rain... now you can travel for a long weekend show or a vacation to the mountains (or beach) without concern for your wooden floor. Your truck is now MORE usable...
5) you’ll find these floors already in award winning trucks around the country including a few factory built vintage trucks displayed at the latest SEMA and Ryan Wheats’ heavily awarded “truck of the year”...
Any time a new item apeers, it’s met with questions, it’s human nature, I remember when Radial tires came out... most folks hated them... Givin time, this new product will become more common than unusual because it replaces a system that’s known to fail, all the while keeping the traditional good looks of our trucks alive for years to come.
