How important is Air Filter placement?

I am close to having to set up my air intake on my 6.0 swap and after looking at hundreds of pics, I just wanted to take a survey of sorts to see what ya'll think about having the tube and air filter under the hood with everything else vs. routing it through the radiator core support to pull cooler air front the front of the truck? Obviously it works both ways but if the advantages are negligible then I'm not sure that it's worth the extra work to route it through the support.
