HELP converting brakes

Can someone explain to me why i would have to change the master cylinder and proportioning valve on my 69 to convert it to 73+ disc brakes. I bought drop spindles that take 73+ discs and i was just going to connect the lines that went to my drums to the new discs calipers. Will this not work? If anyone can explain the proper process on trading my brakes it will be greatly appreciated

Basically the disc brakes on the front and the drum barkes on the rear use different pressures to operate. That's why the proportioning valve from the drum/drum won't work. As far as M/c goes, the disc brakes use more fluid (as the pads wear the caliper has larger volume of fluid in it) so the reservoir is larger. I could be wrong, if so, someone wil jump on here and correct me.

thats the info i got about the master. and the drum drum prop valve has a check valve in it to keep the springs from pushing all of the fluid out of the wheel cylinders back into the master, or something like that. i do know that a disk drum master cylinder does work on a drum drum set up (i had to use parts from my disk drum swap when my drum drum master went out)

So if i were to buy everything for the conversion This is what i will need.
Rotors, loaded calipers, inner and outer wheel bearings, proporioning valve, master cylinder. Is there anything else i need (is there a hub?)

The hub will come with the rotors, or a least that has been my experience with rotors for our trucks. You will also need new flexible hoses to go from hard line to calipers.
