How do I stroke it?

hehe.... Anyway, what all is involved in stroking a 350 and making it a 383? Do i just replace the crank, or do I have to bore the cylinders and get new pistons/rods? Who makes a good stroker kit?

1)Well you will need pistons with the right height at the pin to fit.
2) a 400 crank with the jurnals turned down to fit a 350 or a aftermarket one like scat etc.
3) boring out the block.
4) taking some metal away from the block to clear the stroke.
5) most of the time you will also need to do some grinding on the rod bolts to get it to clear.
5) a cam that will work better with the 383 combo instead of what you would run with a 350.
6) you will need to balance it and use a flywheel like a 400.

stroking, ummmm lets see first you do the four finger drag over the vasaline.....no wait you have to have the 350 block line bored to take a 400 crank & connecting rods, then have screw in studs put in for the heads, try P.A.W. performance-autowmotive-wholesale.....they have a kit not sure on the $$$$ & you have to get the 350 machined to take 400 journals also....I think...been a couple since I built 1 I think thats about it thow..........

Or you could just build the 400 that you rape for a crank, and save money and get more torque.

i built a 400 'cause it was easier for me. 23 more cubic inches (406) has got to make some kind of difference. super chevy, hot rod, etc. need to do dyno tests and compare a 383 to a 406 and see what the differences in power are.
either way make sure you use 5.7 (350) or larger rods. if you're willing to spend the extra dough get 6" rods
