best body work GMAW shielding gas?

Is c25 best of straight Co2? It is only a 110v welder so i'm thinking i could get away with 100% with out too much trouble. but c25 would probably be better with the shallower penetration and minimized spatter. what do you think?

thanks, Justin

Stick with the mix. you don't need straight CO2 Either one will work but for thin gauge sheetmetal I would just use the mix. If you already have it, as it sounds it will work

I believe the c02 is for penetration and the argon is used for anti-spatter. Some people like the 90/10 mix I have always used the 75/25 but I am thinking I will try out the 90/10

The more argon, the better. 75/25 is the best compromise between added cost vs. gains. That is why that is the industry standard for mig welding.

The 75/25 is a very common mix. We use a 85/15 mix here at school. Both have good penetration and yet are relatively spatter free when set right.

Re: best body work GMAW shielding gas?

I know in my highschool job we used 90/10 but we were welding on nasty pipe, and needed penetration. I have never used 75/25 before though.
