Re: Our happy place

I don't have a second home, but I try to make where I go when I go a happy place. I have a lot of favorites, love exploring new places, routinely visit my mom's or sisters that are in places I love, and at home I have a few happy places to relax. My life is kept pretty simple and I have learned to get the most out of the least. My place is log and a mix of rustic and country style. I look at it like I live in a place people in the country pay to stay for a weekend. Sitting on my front porch there are no houses in sight and I planted the bank across the road with flowers, used to be overgrown. The back yard is private and I have a few different vantage points to sit and relax.

Lots of antiques in the yard there Tim.. don't see many of them old metal lawn chairs anymore ,,and yet they are metal and seems like they last a long time.. as for the Out House ,, I do believe it never was used as such and if it was ,,then now the moon is not a cut out for ventilation and also no vent pipe out the top.. of course not every out house had ventilation either

Is that stand up tank your well pump tank ? Or is is another collectable item just for conversation .. nice kept up yard and another thing I noticed is the old model A wheel sitting by the building ..I have a wire rim wheel I use to wind up my garden hose .. lots to look at ,,thx for sharing all the neat ideas you put together.

Anything God's country. Somehow bull-work too, such as rock structures & landscape, though I think I just like the results, too old for that BS.....That said here's my readily available spot of euphoria. My favorite black light posters as a teen rediscovered, parts of course, and photos of those past. Best technical invention since a stereo are musical files

i gathered up those chairs and gliders years ago. They are old, but you can buy that stuff new now... salty! I took them to the sandblaster when I bought them and he gave them back with epoxy primer on them ready for me to paint. They must have had 10 coats of paint on them.

The outhouse I built a couple years ago. I have a galvanized pipe to rig up out the side for the vent. I need to get to that. I'll have to make a cone cap for it. That wheel is a 17" 6-lug Chevy wheel. I have three. Wish I had the fourth one. I do have one Model A wheel out front by the road with a rear corner of a Tudor, all that was left of a car I saw old pictures of when it was a hot rod.

That tank is the propane tank for my kitchen stove. I want to move it from there to by the woodshed along the driveway. I buried conduit years ago when I poured the sidewalk. One more thing I never got to. I have a 16.5 x 8.25 steelie with a rust bead (and a rusty paint hubcap) I want to put on a post for the hose reel.

Talking Re: Our happy place

Well we started the summer with a new screened in porch and side deck. Then I had a new shed cover built out back and concreted so I could work on stuff outside. We use it for our low country bowls also.
Now we just finished the 1st phase of the master bed room bath update. Later we plan to have a tile shower installed this winter maybe after the first of the year.
New flooring in the bathroom & closet. Plus new vanity with a extra wall outlet installed.

Re: Our happy place

This is a a cool thread, I now live in what is called a Shouse I guess, old horse barn converted to bed and breakfast type place. I used to have a house in town with and in-door pool, but life reset me 3 miles out in the country. my happy place is outside about this time of day. Absolute peace with no noise unless the wind is blowing. I have a clock on the wall with a barely audible click for the seconds of life ticking by. a friend stopped over a while ago and said the clock was freaking him out. ... with the weather changing to fall, if I am outside early it feels like I should be deer hunting. My happy place then will be with my Son waiting in the woods for Mr. Majestic . time flys by in seconds, life is peaceful and good.

Gonna have a new house before you know it!

I never really paid attention to the "scale" on the hot rod cart. It's actually looks a good bit smaller than I thought it was.

If I live long enough!

The coupe will be at the picnic to see it in person Jesse. It's a tight fit for sure but it's a blast to drive at 30MPH!
