Same company, but mine is 5-burner, plus the outside burner. I wish my wife would use the grill. Her dad grilled anything if it got grilled at all when she was growing up, and she expects me to do it, too. I like having my son do it. He likes doing that and I like to eat it! He's smoking a chicken for dinner, right now! Yummay!

smoked chicken sounds great - what time's dinner??

Mrs Bee likes to grill the small hens once in a while.. last weekend she grilled some halibut my buddy caught and shrimp skewers.. and she grills my ribeyes perfectly! pork, chicken, fish, steak, burgers, you name it, she'll grill it

she doesn't use the side burner very often but did light it by mistake once with the lid down, wish I had that on video

(Burp), sorry, it's over. That chicken came out of the smoker so juicy that when we cut into it, water ran out. My son put half a red onion and 5 cloves of garlic in the body cavity, and he also grilled some zucchini, red onion and crookneck squash, separately. I don't usually eat much for dinner, but I feel a food coma coming on. Dinner was goood! If it was up to me, it might be as simple as a bag of salad with some meat tossed in, on a paper plate with plastic utensils. That's how I used to eat on company travel. I saved enough per Diem money to buy all new flooring in our house. Other engineers rented condos facing the ocean for $2400 a month. I don't need that kind of view, and certainly didn't want to spend that kind of money when I could use for something better. I rented places in the "slums" of Cape Canaveral or Titusville for less than $400 a month. I lived worse, growing up.

BoT, there is a new fire, burning near Santa Barbara.

Re: California is burning

Had a fire a little too close to me today. I heard sirens and more and more and more. Then helicopters and thought. This cannot be good. Sure enough the hill was on fire.

Thank the lord that it was fairly cool and there was no wind. The wind is what made the last one go crazy.

They blasted it with helicopters. I'm next to the lake so they didn't have far to go to fill up. I think they made pretty quick work of it. They weren't messing around. There must have been at least 5 helicopters. One after another.

Here's a crummy pic I took from my driveway. Nothing too dramatic. They were about done and and I suck at taking pictures. And my neighbor has a weird house. He's a architect. It's supposed to be space efficient. Whatever.

Re: California is burning

We have a new fire in the Napa Valley (Glass Fire). It's already burned a couple large wineries. The Butte fire is now threatening Concow, Magelia and Paradise. Lord help us!

My wife went to bed last night worrying about the Winery she works for in St Helena.

This morning that fire burnt over the hill into Sonoma
The same area that got hit hard 2 years ago

This is another scary area that is pretty populated

These fires are uncontrollable

I would like to hear from some or all of you Californians on just how the state might ward off these fires from ever getting so big ,,or maybe even started.
This is only an opinion question ..as I have a son and his family living in California and I feel for any and all of you that do .

I guess my first answer would be to lift the restrictions of the lumber companies and let them do their thing with the forest like they used to do and second would be to round up the arsonists when they find them and make them do life in prison. Attempted murder is what that is along with other charges. 3rd would be to bring back the death penalty. Have a pseudo family member who's father was murdered about 20 years ago and the killer was released this past week.

Re: California is burning

There's a new fire near Redding, CA that started yesterday near Zogg Mine Road. It's called the Zogg Fire. Winds fanned it to 7,000 acres by last night and this morning it's 15,000 acres and zero containment. It's several miles from the gigantic August Complex Fire (878,470 acres) and they say the two might merge.

The rains can't come soon enough but they are likely 2-3 months away.

I agree, bring the rights back to the law abiding and string the criminals up. A lot of fires are cause by stupidity too. Example: dragging trailer safety chains, bottles dropped on the ground. Think magnifying glass on ants and who knows what else.

It's an odd looking house for sure. The guy that owns it is almost never there. He does loan it out to his students. Some of which are very attractive girls and the use the hot tub. So I don't mind the the funny looking house.

The old bitty across the street was complaining that naked girls were in the tub. And all I could think was dang it how did I miss that.

I need to pay more attention.

Fires get started for lots of reasons. When I was in the Williams fire in 2012 it was started by a guy that had an engine fire in his car and pulled over. The car burned along with 4000 acres. What are you going to do?

Yup. Just like Boog's PSA thread in G-D, the 2018 Carr Fire was started by sparks from a flat tire on a travel trailer. That one burned 359 square miles (229,000+ acres) and 1500+ structures and caused 8 deaths.

A friend of ours just finished rebuilding his home that was burnt to the ground up there on the last go round.. He sent a picture from the front of the house showing the fire on the ridge not too far from his house now.

Youre right about the rain. Need it bad

The fires are nature's way of thinning the dense or compromised stands of trees. They've happened for millennia but have seemingly become worse and more frequent. Hell, can anyone even keep up with the number of fires that are going right now and what's been put out? I cant.

I too believe that loggers need to do what they do. Im not a clear cut kind of guy but a good selective, heavy thinning and clearing would sure take a lot of fuel out of the equation. Probably would help the limited rainfall distribute better to remaining vegetation making them more resistant to SOD, the damn beetles or whatever else has been turning them into standing firewood.

Arsonists get life + hard labor. Even if no one was killed, there are so many folks that were right on the edge to begin with and will never recover from losing everything they had.

They might not ever be able to pay back their debt but I'll be damned if Im gonna pay for them to sit and watch TV while Im workin 2 or 3 jobs, 7 days a week just to make ends meet. Make them productive whether they like it or not.
