Dolphin gauge insert

Hi there I got a dolphin gauge set with the aluminium insert for my 64 gmc truck ,not sure how to fit the insert on my original cluster plastic frame .I already cut out the old gauges contour leaving the lip on ,does insert plate mount in front of plastic frame or behind it ? If I install the thick plate plate in front of frame there not much room for the screws to fit in to the dash .Anybody as an idea on this ?Thanks

Re: Dolphin gauge insert

Greetings and Happy Holidays Expedition!

I'm not sure if the insert will work with that plastic gauge panel.
If so you may want to consider the earlier GMC (60-61)metal panel and add your insert (on top) to that style. Just cut out what you won't need.
This is a Boese Engineering insert.

Re: Dolphin gauge insert

Let us know how they work when installed. Some people have had some problem with the gauges.

Re: Dolphin gauge insert

My problem is not the gauges per say ,its the thickness of the plate if I installed it in front of my cluster plastic frame ,the plate is kinda thick ,no room for the cluster mounting screw to the the dash ,ill have to plug old holes and drill new ones once the plate is on with gauges ,I see some of the members have this kinda of plate and I was wondering how they installed it that's all .
