Re: One-Man Cab & Bed Lift

Anyone ever try to lift a suburban body with one ( or two ) of these I was thinking one in the door as shown and then one in the rear doors?

Any thoughts

Re: One-Man Cab & Bed Lift

That's a ton of weight, completely striped it would still be heavy. I would do it ,but like this one end at a time

Re: One-Man Cab & Bed Lift

That was kinda my thought as we'll but I was thinking using them both at the same time but I agree with you on the weight issue

I think it would have to be a very slow and steady process and then roll the chassis out

I think I'm gonna order the plans and give it a shot!!

Re: One-Man Cab & Bed Lift

I have one of the lifts, have used it for cabs and for boxes, I did not use it for the blazer. I would not use it to lift, too unstable, and I think it's easier just to use chains and straps.
I lifted a body off a 57 panel the same way, took me a couple hours after I stripped it

I've never built with steel. What do you use to make the cuts? Thanks for any advise.

The cheapest way is with an abrasive cut off saw or chop saw. You can even get a blade for a regular wood cutting skill saw but it is not real accurate. I now use a band saw for most of my metal tube or stock cutting but they are way more expensive to purchase but over time pay off with clean accurate cuts, no sparks and not as much noise.

Also these plans are now available in PDF E-files for faster delivery!

I finished the plans and they are ready to ship out Just like the "Tip & Flip Cab Dolly" it comes with material lists, cut lists and step by step build pic's with details. It is designed for standard cabs of all years and fleet side beds. It uses your engine hoist/cherry picker and is truly a one man job. How many times have you needed a hand and no one was around to give you a hand! When you are done it all slides inside it self for easy storage in the corner out of the way.

Plans are $19.95 and this includes shipping and tax. You can order you plans from the link in my Signiture below. If you have any questions please ask!

Kevin

Kevin,

Are these plans still available? I'm interested in the bed/cab lift plans? Could you provide payment amount and info, please? Thanks for your contributions!

Re: One-Man Cab & Bed Lift

I just found this thread and it looks great! Will this work on an early 60s c10 as well? Can't see why not.

I'm local to you.. I'm on Vaca and my parents live in Winters... Small world!

Re: One-Man Cab & Bed Lift

Yes they are still available and will work on any standard cab and fleet side bed. Step sides will work with some clamps ( not recommended on step side beds with good paint).
You can PayPal to rokcrln@pacbell.net and the price has dropped to $18.00!

Thank you I appreciate your kind words!

I have used mine many times for so much more then it was built for. I've made brackets bolt to it then other items to make work easier. I'm glad to hear others getting use from it.
