1986 gmc 1500 4x4

Good Day Guys!

I finally Purchased my First Square Body! Being that im only 17 it definatley wont be my last! theyve always been my favorite truck.

-3 Speed Bull Low
-Tired worn out 305 (tbi)
-4x4
-Brand New front bumper/rear and front Grill
-Brand New leather bench seat

Its in my shop class now being torn apart for a frame off resto..I started by cutting all my bed bolts, Im going to sand the frame down and repaint it black, new brakes and shocks. Start my way at the back to the front, first question is, should i keep it throttle body? I want to do a 350 swap but what years will work for me without much mods?

Welcome to the board. Are you sure it has TBI? If it does could it be an 87? There are some differences between the tbi and carb motors, but the swap has been done and there are some very good threads on hear that you can search for most answers concerning the swap. If it is a TBI motor, you can put a 350 in by using the throttle body and computer out of the 350. I think they are pretty much the same otherwise. Good luck.

Well ill pick apart the vin number and see what I really have! It is a throttle body when I took the manifold cover off! Id like to stick with the tbi as I already hve it and its fairly easy to gain power out of them atleast so ive heard! Im going to try my hardest at getting pictures! my digiatal cameras effed!

heres the pictures as I promised! it is in fact an 87, plans are stripping it down(already did) and sandblasting my frame and replacing all the used and tired running gear. Paint the frame all nice, repaint the body hugger orange. Plans are to drop a 427 tall deck into it. i only paid 600 for it, theirs over 600 in bumpers and grills on it
