what would be decent price to ask out of a 283 and a truck 4 speed. I really know nothing about the engine and tranny as I just bought a 67 swb and will be pulling them out to install a 383 with a 700r4 when finished restoring. I just don't have the room to store all left over stuff when i'm done. Not ready to sell yet just getting advice before starting this. You wont offend me by telling me scrap price either. Thx for the advice in advance

Re: sbc 283

what a shame to split up the ol gal! Ha. But completely understand. I'd say, if in running condition, the 283 is worth about $250-450 (only on the high end if in GREAT condition and someone is really looking for a year-correct 283.. unlikely) - I'd say probably more on the lower end of this estimate is realistic). Trans worth maybe $100-150 tops - truck 4-speeds with granny aren't really that popular except with restorers. That's just my 2 cents - others will have some good opinions on this. Also, make sure (if not too late) to take video of the engine running (and maybe even driving) to prove engine/trans health.
