Re: PROJECT "Z069" - LS7 powered '69 Stingray....

Right around Jan 23...
-
-
We received the steering box today, which was a pretty good turn-around, they did an awesome job:
-

-

-

-

-
I rolled the previously coated and rebuilt housing outside for a quick pressure wash and cleaning:
-

-

-

-
Pressing in the new bushings...they went in super easy:
-

-
A pipe from a previous air-ride install worked out perfect:

Re: PROJECT "Z069" - LS7 powered '69 Stingray....

The block-saver plate must be clearanced for a block-mounted starter:
-

-
The knockout really didn't 'knock-out' really easy, so I just clearanced with the plasma...
-

-

-

-

-
Also had to clearance for a little ridge on the back of the block/oilpan area...this is neccesary so the plate rest flat up against the block..
-

-
Test fitting...

Temporarily mounted the bell-housing to set-up the clutch-fork, and cut-off the excess thread.
-

-
-
I called the engine supplier regarding the flywheel torque-specs....I AM GLAD I DID !!! (rather than looking it up on the web)....The flywheel bolts are a ONE TIME USE...they stretch and SHOULD NOT be reused. I did not know this, man that could of been disasterous !!!

Anyway, he is overnighting me six new bolts....

Also Classic Chevy 5-speed is sending me metric pressure-plate bolts as well. I was using the housing bolts for the above mock-up.

I started on the fuel system today. Also received the correct metric-bolts for the flywheel and pressure plate.
-
-
Here's the tank marked for the deep sump:
-

-

-
After marking, I dropped the tank off at the Steam Cleaners for a nice steam-clean and 'de-fume' job.
-
-
Here's some fuel line I picked up from my buddy at GOODIES SPEED SHOP in San Jose....My long-time buddy Rich over their helps me out with all my car builds...
-

-
The plan is to run the new lines in the stock location, here's the OG lines:
-

-

-

-
-
And away we go:

Figured I could hang something off this bolt...
-

-

Anyway, the engine supplier shipped out some other headers.....I'm having my doubts, might have to put an order in with someone else...

I have the new neck already. The heater hose ports have to be plugged and the water pump housing tapped and fittings installed elsewhere.

Well the truck chassis was completed on Tues, and trailered up to S. San Fran to the body shop...
-
-
I'm back on the 'Z069' with my custom deep-sump for the fuel tank...
-
-
I checked the degress of the tank how it normally sits in the frame....so I can transfer to the bench:
-

-

-

-
Then I start with templates...
-

-

-
Here's the rear plate....
-

-

-

-
Drilled these holes for fuel flow, and this will also acts like a baffle...

Re: PROJECT "Z069" - LS7 powered '69 Stingray....

Well I finished the tank up today, but didn't make it to coating....
-
-
Here I filled it with water to check for leaks....found only one pin-hole and welded it up:
-

-
Welded up stock line:
-

-

-
Heated up the solder and removed the stock nipple, then drilled it out and welded in a 3/8 FP bung for return. Here I installed a scharder valve to pressurize the tank for leak testing.
-

-

-
Stock fuel sender is re-used, just cut and plugged:
-

-

-
It's a roller....

I'm back from a LONG love making session....

I finished up the tank, made a cover plate for the fill, and sent it to get blasted. My power-coater recommended he blast it, then pressure test it one more time before coating.

I pulled the water pump to remove the nipples, and tap the plugs:
