ride quality on 18/20" wheels and coils

Looking for feedback on 18/20" wheels on coil sprung c10's. I have a 68 c10 with 2 1/2" drop spindles with stock coils in front and 4" dropped coils in back, all from e.c.e. Considering 18x8 front 18x9 rear 55 aspect ratio tires, or 20x8 front 20x9 rear 45 aspect ratio. I've looked at times for opinions on ride quality and would like to go with 20's but hesitant as i think it will ride too firm. Going for a 28+" front tire diameter and a 29+" diameter rear tire using either a 18" rim or a 20" rim. I've decided on mobsteel steel wheels with a beauty ring and a poverty cap. Thanks in advance!

The ride will come down a lot to the spring, shock and tire combo. The sidewall construction of the tire you pick will affect the ride. The stiffer the sidewall the harsher the ride. I use tire rack to both research and buy tires and they have a lot of reviews and rate the tires pretty well.

Re: ride quality on 18/20" wheels and coils

Coming from a 15" tire, pretty much anything ruins the ride lol.

To me, 18" is where the dividing line for comfort is on MOST older vehicles. Once you reach the late model set, with struts, air suspension etc, this starts to change. Its nothing to put 22"s on a new charger that came with 20's, but thats a whole different ballpark.

I went from 17's on a 5/7 coil drop to 20's and the ride was horrible. Decided I better but air ride on it now

Talking Re: ride quality on 18/20" wheels and coils

I have 3" lowering coils up front and 4" out back with Boss 338 20" wheels front and back. Tires are 245 up front.

275 out back. I also put the helper air bags in the rear coils to help the bouncing effect and the truck rides wonderful.

Note: When I bought my wheels & tires they talked me out of staggering them.
Look at the trucks that are staggered and the tires are smaller side walls than the rear's. If you look close enough, they look out of place.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: ride quality on 18/20" wheels and coils

My best analogy: Tires, wheels and suspension are like women. The skinnier they are, the harder they ride. The flashier they are, the more likely they get stolen and the lower they get, it's harder to get into your parents driveway.
