63 LWB Fleet LS3

Hey,

Long time lurker here.

I have a 63 LWB Fleetside C10. I've spent the last couple years trying to put this truck together in the driveway. I feel like I'm at the home stretch to where I want to be for this year. Unfortunately, I have a major roadblock in my head. I'm hoping some experts can help me out.

What's done:
Frame off clean and paint (then rain and rust)
C Notch
CPP Tubular trail arms
CPP rear suspension
CPP rear cross member
CPP center cross member
Rear suspension springs/shocks
Rebuild rear drum brakes
Front suspension springs/shocks
Front brake disc conversion
Rear fuel cell install under bed of truck
LS3 mounted (crate- connect and cruise)
Headers
4L60E installed
Braided fuel lines installed
Griffin Radiator installed
Dual electric fans
Coolant lines/hoses installed
Air intake
Overflow tank
Ididit Column
Serpentine pulley system
Power steering
Front control arms
Brake booster
Master cylinder
New Brake lines
Ground wires
And a bunch of other minor items.

What I want to be done this year:
ECU mounted
Sensors
Auto Wire kit (Fuse panel installed)
Gauges (Dakota digital for now)
IDIDIT column shifter and electrical
Drive by wire install
Fill fluids
Exhaust install
Test and check everything
Start engine

I've been staring at this stage for a couple months. Brand new engine and tranny. No electrical, starting from scratch for obvious reasons. Not sure where to go from here. Autowire + Dakota Digital should be the easier route, but I have no clue if I should focus on the basics (lights etc) or engine. To be honest the electrical seems so difficult. Any tips greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you have your hands full. But a great project. Just gotta keep pushing through. When my daughter gets overwhelmed with homework assignments, I remind her how to eat an elephant. One bite at a time. Make a list and start crossing things off.

I plan to swap the drivetrain in my 65 C10. I'd love to just order up a connect and cruise LS3 and 4l60E but a bit outside the budget.

Since your engine has been sitting for a while, I would concentrate on getting the necessary wiring done so that you can fire it up as soon as possible. Then you can work in the lights, stereo, etc.

Thanks! That's what I figured. Been looking for on the forums with similar setups. Autowire, LS3, Dakota gauges. Really appreciate the guidance!

When my daughter can't afford something I always remind her to work harder and/or get a better job.
