I've been thinking of getting one for about a year now but i haven't got around too it. One of my buddies got a job at an muffler shop too so i could proably get it cheap......
What kind of an effect did it make on the sound? I have heard that it quietens it down quite a bit but makes it sound more muscular.....

Generally , the H pipe tends to tone the exhaust down a bit & gives a more "tuned" sound. i have 2 chamber flows on the 69 ,with full lenght (out the back) tail pipes.....the 383 still sounds off pretty good. it not bad in town, but when the throttle is opened you can hear it! it has a quieter/ mellower sound since the H pipe was added(under cruise).......I dont think it really affected the noise level under WOT tho.... crazyL

it is a pipe that connects both sides of your exuast and equalls out the pressure to give you more low end.

Before I put mine in about 6 months ago, it was pretty loud going through my Flowtech Turbos(Carcraft rated best sounding mufflers!). I bought the stainless hooker one from Jegs (Summit can't even get one of my orders right!). I did make it a lot quieter and there was more low-end torque, but it still sets off the car alarms when I cruise by. Make sure to put them 12-14" behind the collectors. Some people say put them right behind, and I tried both, and came to the realization if you don't put them the 12-14" back, you're on crack.

if you paint the pipes with some cheap enamel, then run the truck for a while, where the paint just stops burning is about the optimum spot for the H pipe. i agree, it is farther back than "right behind the collectors" crazyL
