I may probably take them to my uncle, he owns a machine shop. Just have him remove that extra on the ends right?

That and re-machine the c-clip slot on the end... And hope there is enough spline left on the axle...

Still want to look at the drum on the axle and see how much it covers. Couple of things we are dealing with here. One is a set of axles that are 4 3/4 and two is what do the drums look like. He is going to have to use redrilled truck drums or a drum off a full size car with a 12 bolt. It could be a drum issue. These axles are not 3/4" longer later year axles as there is not near enough bearing surface sticking out the seal. There are always problems with stuff like this when we have to figure out what the PO did to get us to this point. These axles may have come with a special drum at one time or required a specific drum.

I've been driving my truck every day to work without problems. I think the 1/8" seems not to affect it.
