Re: Pics of plug wire routing with hei and ram horns

1973 corvette plug wires are the wire you need to run the front 2 wires to 1-3 2-4 they are long enough to run throw the motor mounts and the Corvette used the RamHorns exhaust up to 1973 so when ordering HEI plug wires ask for the 1973 Corvette cus in 1974 they went to a different exhaust system no more Ramhorns

Re: Pics of plug wire routing with hei and ram horns

These are 76 Vette wires. They fit perfectly to route them as the stock wires were but these have the HEI ends. No reason to go to the trouble of custom making them.

Yes, I know you can't see the plug wires on the engines I build. That's the point of my pictures. They are there but out of sight. When plug wires are properly routed, they last a long, long time.

Re: Pics of plug wire routing with hei and ram horns

Does someone have a part # or link to the correct wires? I would like to route under the manifolds but the corvette wires I ordered are not quite long enough. I would like to not mess around with ordering a bunch of different wire sets. It's for an hei distributor.

I am trying to replicate your setup on my 327 SBC.

I have to use the spacer to raise the wire loom above my ram horn exhaust manifolds, but I am having difficulty finding a bolt long enough, any advice.

I got my bolts and lock washers at Lowes and cut the spacers from stainless steel tubing. I've been surprised how well the wires keep their shape over time. Now that I have the wire lengths, it will be easy to build them when they need to be replaced. Good luck

How is the wire loom mounted to the valve cover bolt? I can't see from the picture. Is there a spacer, did you have to modify your T Bar bolt?

Thats how mine are, and it works great. I need to install the nomex sleeves on the ones behind the downspout though.

Re: Pics of plug wire routing with hei and ram horns

I used 75-77 vette wires, Car Quest P/N 35-8155. I haven't got them exactly where I want them yet but it gives you an idea. Some are definitely too long, I'll cut to fit later. One is slightly short, I may move things around to get it right. the wires will be loomed on the rear of the heads using later mode GM looms replicating the original style.

Re: Pics of plug wire routing with hei and ram horns

yup, custom built worked for me. That way they curve and fit perfectly. 180degree SP connectors. Suggestion-if you go this route, build 2 sets at the same time. That way you have a replacement already built for when they need to be changed..imho.

I sent GMCPual an email. But have not got a response.

Is part numbers 1713723, 1713724, and 1713726 the correct part numbers?

So that 4-wire support at the very rear of the engine, right above the oil filter - what is the thread size and pitch on the bolt that secures it to the block? My engine is already installed in the chassis. Want to make sure I have used he right hardware before I torture myself trying to finesse it in with those tight quarters.
