Build date on 72 Chevy K20

Anyone know how I can find the build date on my 1972 Chevy K20 ? Build sequence number is 118607, out of Flint plant. Any help appreciated, door sticker is long gone.

It will be hard to get an exact build date on a Flint truck. You’ll have to guestimate it by the date codes on your drivetrain, assuming it’s original to the truck.

Re: Build date on 72 GMC K20

Just found my protectoplate, it's a Chevy, F118607, delivered 11/10/71, Bath Michigan. Bought at Bee's Chevy-Olds in St' Johns Michigan. Would that be an October 71 built truck? There are some codes on the protectoplate also, anyone know what those are?

There can be varying time between build, and delivery dates. My 72 Flint Chevy was built in late May, but my delivery inspection form to W-K Chevy in Cole Camp MO has an August 72 date.

So - is it a Chevy? Or a GMC?

Chevy, I forgot. Anybody know what those codes are on the protectoplate? Tried to add pics but I don't see them.

If the jackass that started that thread would update it every now and again it would be a lot more useful work has limited what I’ve been able to do but, 402Bowtie has absolutely killed, posts 63-65 have updated lists as well as decoders for the Protectos. His list is up to date as far as I know. He and I still communicate over that project at times and he has done a great job contributing.
