edelbrock carb problem

anyone else have an issue with edelbrock carbs and accelerator pump seal falling off? mine was rebuilt last year and was replaced but keeps falling off and ends up at the bottom of carb. i was wondering if maybe they had like a bad bunch of them out there that where doing this . fuel i use is less than 10% ethanol so i dont think its that.

Re: edelbrock carb problem

Could be whoever rebuilt it didn't do something right. I always use edelbrock carbs never had a problem like that but then again you never know. You can call edelbrock directly or even call summit and talk to them about it

Re: edelbrock carb problem

Some of these carb kits now are not too good. I also think the Ethanol has some effect on them too. I had 2 of my Roch. 2G carbs do that on my 3 carb setup shortly after rebuilding them. I would check with Summit or Edelbrock & see if you can get an original pump.

Re: edelbrock carb problem

I rebuilt it myself with a edelbrock kit and parts from summit. There's really not a way to mess that part up unless u install the seal upside down , but it was laying right side up when I found it. It's not possible to flip. Plus I reinstalled it correctly and it fell off a second time.

Re: edelbrock carb problem

Call summit. It's probably a crap kit. They probably cheaped out on it when they made the kit.

Re: edelbrock carb problem

If i remember correct the rebuild kits may have a accel pump with a seal not ment for ethanol fuel, but you can buy that pump seal seperate, I believe one is blue the other a different color.

I have never had one fall off ether.

Re: edelbrock carb problem

I had exactly that issue with an Edelbrock. When I rebuilt the carb, the accelerator pump seal that came with the kit was blue. It fell off and, just like yours, was lying at the bottom of the accelerator pump well. I had kept the old original seal, which was orange, so I put it back on. The two seals definitely have different inside diameters. I've been looking for a correct orange seal, but all I've found so far are new pump rods with the orange seal installed on it. That's probably what I'll end up buying.
