Re: 8 lug slots

No new 8-lugs made.If they were smart they`d start making 8x16 and 10x16 slots and stop making a few ugly trendy doodad wheels. These things were meant to be 8-lug in my book.People are digging these wheels again but are staying away from 16.5s(not me). They are the Torque Thrusts of 3/4t and wheel companies are sleeping on a good chance,IMO.

Re: 8 lug slots

I had also forgotten that Mickey Thompson made those wheels in 16" diameter til about 5 years ago. They were called "Challengers", I think. If I remember correctly, they had a really nice polished finish like their classic series wheels. Too bad they stopped making them.

Re: 8 lug slots

Ok,I see them now.I just clicked on aluminum wheels. You need to click on trucks then aluminum wheels. It`s funny how they stop making something just to bring it bak as way expensive.C`mon,I`ve never seen a $200 diference between 8 and 10 inch sets. They`re just cast.Weld and Centerline broke a price barrier with drop forged, then came billet. Now cheap old cast is priced like drop forged.Drop forged is good for 44" rubber and they only recommend 33" for these.I`d still give that much for these then as much or more for fashion wheels.I`ll have to save that resource. Thanks!

Re: 8 lug slots

I was gonna warn of the same thing as VT BLAZER... I used to work at a tire shop and I personally wouldn't run the 16.5's on anything just because first off they are kind of a funky size, and secondly they are the only size i could ever break the bead on with my boot. All of the other wheel sizes needed a bead breaker to do the work... now don't stray too far, the tires can be found easily enough but if ever you plan to wheel or air down don't run them.

Re: 8 lug slots

Airing down is for more extreme wheeling like rock crrawling where beadlock are in order to do it right with any wheel.I`ve only aired down for beach driving where I`ve never had an issue with the 16.5s.The best offroad tires are offered in 16.5 for some reason.

Re: 8 lug slots

I wish American Racing would just come out with 17" 8 lug Ansen sprints. It's one of the reasons I haven't stepped up to a FF rear and 8 lug conversion on my front diff. If I do I'm thinkin of running some oem steel 17" 8 lugs from a Dodge. I hate bling, and almost had my AE slotts sand blased when I got them because they only come in polished. I have a ratty old set of flea bay western slotts on my bike trailer though.

Re: 8 lug slots

I have a set of those Mickey Thompson "Challengers" on my Duramax. Just about as close to a "new" slot as you can get!!! I really like the old slots, I have a polished set of 8 lug 16.5x8.25 I put on my yellow 72 just to see what they looked like, but think Ill use them later on a 4x4. I also have slots on my 71 1/2t 4x4

Those look great. Slots are my favorites on 4x4's right after white steel wheels with small caps.

Re: 8 lug slots

I had these wheels polished. They are very smooth now, they dont have the "grooves" in them anymore.

Re: 8 lug slots

Thanks man. Your truck its really cool too. its a work in progress but its a 46 chevy half ton on a 69 K20 frame. Im running dana 60's front and rear with 456 gears and its pushed by a 65 vette 327. Truck is a blast to drive and great on mud runs with 38" swampers. I love that its old school but drives like a "newer" truck with power steering, power disk brakes etc. .
