1967 to 1969 GM Tilt Column Parts Diagram

Does any of the forum supporters have a detailed diagram of what parts are in the 167 to 1969 GM Tilt columns. I would like to know what parts are suppost to go where, in rebuilding / repairing the column in my truck. It's for an automatic transmission, (350 v/8, with auto), has tilt, has flasher button on lower right side, and does not have the column mounted ignition key. This is an early column, and I believe some parts are missing from previous attempts to fix/repair. I'd like a diagram to go by but can't locate one with good image and parts break down. So, if there is a diagram/image out there and you would like to help a fellow 67/69 Chevy pickup person, much appreciate your assistance. If anyone has a spare "quadrant light and light bulb cover" I would appreciate a spare as one is needed. The Quadrant light is the small glass bulb light that is deep inside the column that is used to light-up the shift indicator bar so that one can tell what gear the column shift is currently in when it's dark inside/outside. (other than moving forward, backwards or just not moving!)

Re: 1967 to 1969 GM Tilt Column Parts Diagram

Welcome aboard the best Chevy/GMC truck forum on the internet.

Here's a good start. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=329008

Regarding the light, maybe forum members KevsClassics or 70shortfleet can help you out. They restore the tilt columns.

You can check the picture below to identify which tilt you have. The middle one is a true truck tilt, the top one is an RV tilt and the bottom one is a van tilt.

Thanks for the information, I believe the column I have is the one on top, I would have to measure the distance from column cone to the neutral safety switch to be sure though. I would like to hear from either of those two if they can help me with the light issue. Thanks for your assistance.

Re: 1967 to 1969 GM Tilt Column Parts Diagram

Here is a pic of the parts. If you have the tilt on the top of the pic you will need to move the location of the NSS as shown here. There are some threads on here that explains this. A service manual has the parts diagram and step by step instructions. It is not easy without the proper tools but it can be done. Just take it slow and methodical.

First thing is to positively identify what you have since tilt columns weren't available in trucks from 67-69.

Also column ignition switches didn't become standard equipment until 1973 on all G.M. light duty trucks. Body change that year also.
