Sealed Power Pistons?

Anyone have experience with this brand? I see them advertised quite a bit.

I'm waiting for the weather to cool down some so I can start back on my 350 in the garage. It's been bored .030 over and is not going to be performance engine.

Many people have. What is the engine combo you are thinking of putting together?

The engine is a stock 77 Impala 350 with 4 barrel Quadrajet. Strictly for occasional driving for my 69 when completed. Heads are also stock out of the same engine.

Last time I had new pistons on an engine was about 15 years ago and don't even remember the brand I used then.

I have a set of flat tops hypereutectic's in my 355. Never had a problem with them. They are good pistons for a street engine that doesn't see a lot of rpm.

Haven't found any negative articles about them. I did find that Sealed Power and Speed Pro are made by Federal Mogul. Reasonably priced also.

Btw: What's the going rate to have the connecting rods removed from the old pistons and new ones put on? The last ones I had done the shop did the engine re-boring and piston swap together.

I see a lot of Youtube videos for doing it yourself, but I don't want to mess with at this time.

If these are the old forged pistons sold under the TRW name they are great!
I have had a set in a 0.060" over 396 and they have survived well.
These are probably more piston than your application needs , but if your bore to piston
clearance is machined correctly they will be great and strong!

Also found out a local small machine shop will remove old pistons and install new ones for $40 a set.

Engine is a 350 bored .030 over and is for an occasional driver/street use.

Ordered a set of sealed power hypereutectic cast pistons from local auto parts. Came as a set with wrist pins and rings and had to return the set.

Reason for return:

Pistons fit fairly decent with a tight .002 feeler guage on one side of the skirt. Measuring piston vs skirt width with two digital micrometers showed a .0015 difference which was withing specs. However, the rings showed a wide gap of .040 +/- .005 on several cylinders.

In the past most rings I've bought have had to be filed slightly to gap them correctly so I figured they had sent the rings for a standard 4.00" bore. The .040 ring gap would have been about .010 in a stock block.
