Oil fill tube blocking upper rad hose/pipe

I’d like to use the OE style steel upper road hose pipe with the rubber on each end. For some reason when I line things up, the pipe is up against the fill tube/breather cap and that’s without the rubber connector hose on. I have 2 styles of thermostat housings and neither seem to work. It’s a 1968 327. Is there a certain thermostat housing I should be using?

Re: Oil fill tube blocking upper rad hose/pipe

I bought one of those before I could get my hands on a rigid upper pipe and it’s nowhere near working with the pipe.

Crankcase ventilation is nonexistent on this thing. It was a solid running engine when I got and it had solid valve covers like my script covers and no PCV at the rear. There’s a blank boss where it should be beside the distributor. So my plan is to run as it has for 50 years and just breath out the fill tube.

Shorten the tube so the cap sits lower and clears the hose.

That would put the cap more in the way than it already is

I can’t remember if I removed it but I beat it with a rubber mallet and it didn’t budge. Think I’m gonna give up on the dream and just run a rubber upper hose...less spots to leak anyways.
