Clutch Slipping vs Ability to get into Gear

I have been trying to figure out the right spot for my clutch to be adjusted to. I have 350 mated to SM465 and out through the NP205.

It's been hard to get into R unless it's turned off. Today I adjusted the clutch to where it will go into gear. When I test drove it and hit the gas, the clutch slips like crazy! I doubt I could go up any sort of incline.

What is the next step? I was thinking clutch but it's been fine until recently. It hasn't been slipping and I haven't burnt it up.

Could it be the first gear/reverse syncros?

Any advice on my next step would be great!!!

Thank you!

Re: Clutch Slipping vs Ability to get into Gear

Sounds like with adjustments you can get both extremes, full engagement but grinds in reverse, and smooth reverse but slips. As a past ase mechanic i suspect your linkage and pivot points are flexing and this results in less clutch release arm movement.

Get someone to help you and take a tape measure and see how much throw the release arm is moving. Work at getting any play at the pivot points out as much as possible

Reverse is not syncronized.

I like your logic but I have a hydraulic conversion. Would that be the same? I don't think the distance of release arm travel would change?

Thanks for your help!
