Re: 71 Ol' Blue

Great! Can't wait to see pics of the progress. On the sway bar I just put one on mine too. That's correct, you'll need to use the stock brackets unless dropping 3" or more and then CPP makes some nice drop brackets I would suggest using instead of right to the frame. Good luck with everything! We'll be waitin'!

Yes, the weather is really nice this time of year. Mid 60s to low 70s during the day and in the 40s at night.

Must be another one of those BAMA fans...lol! Yes I plan to put a drop but don't know how big of a drop it will be. 2/3 or 4/6.....How low can I go before I need to put a c-notch on it?

Re: 71 Ol' Blue

You can go 6" in the rear before you need a c-notch unless your going to be using your truck to haul stuff then I would probably notch it. A lot of members on here have 6" rear drops with no notch. I only notched mine cause I have a 7" drop and plan to bag it eventually. I say go for the 4/6 drop or even 4.5/6 if you like a little rake. If you just do a 2/4 you will probably wish you did a 4/6. Good luck with it.

Re: 71 Ol' Blue

Wow, just got through your whole thread. This was a truly GREAT find for $4k. I would love to find a truck that nice with or without a motor for that kind of money. I know you have spent alot more on it since you got it but what a solid foundation to start with.
BTW, that's super cool that you went with the 327 vintage engine.
Looking forward to updates.

Thanks, and yes if my wife only knew how much more I won't here the end of it, especially whenever she walked outside and see the truck sitting there. I plan to have a lot of new up dates this coming week. I am on vacation starting tomorrow. I also just scored a nice tac/vac gauges off ebay. Needs to be cleaned up a little but the price was right. I am just glad Jonathan didn't see it....

Thanks for the info. I thinking going with 2.5" drop spindles with 1" drop on springs in front and 4" drop springs with 1" block on rear. Call it 3.5/5.....Still just haven't made the final choice. There will not be anything loaded in the bed but made a new TV. But I will like to pull my 6'/10' trailer behind it when needed.

Nice choice your truck will look really good with that drop. Are you planning on doing the drop soon or waiting. Good luck with everything, can't wait to see how it turns out.

I would like to do it soon. I have got all my front end parts minus the spindles. I mean everything for the brakes to new power steering. So, I need drop spindles 4" drop springs, adjustable track bar and shock relocate mounts.

Re: 71 Ol' Blue

Well, haven't gotten much done to say the least. But got my new gauges in that look good. The lens is pretty scratched up and I need a new circuit strip. So now I have to figure out what direction I want to go. White faced or stock? Here are a few pics. The first pic is of my current gauges and the one I just got.

Re: 71 Ol' Blue

Nice progress!! Here's a pic of my gauges before and after. I just did them in white face with new lens and black numbers, added Sunpro tach and vacuum/boost gauge. I'm also going to be running blue LED's. Give you an idea.

Re: 71 Ol' Blue

Got some more new parts in today....Just a couple more parts and I can get the suspension dropped and completed. I got a great deal on these parts off ebay. The coil springs are not listed as CPP. But when they came in I was surprised to see CPP on the box. Oh and no one else placed bids on the springs. I know guys here are always looking for good deals on parts and thought I would share.

Those are not my gauges. I believe slick got them from VA72c10 (Jonathan). He is the man and usually has about anything you need.
