Travel tanks
I used the search but didn't find what I was looking for. Has anyone modified travel tanks or used a bedside tank in a 67-72. I know if I'm t-boned I could explode but if I used the in cab tank I could as well and, if rear ended with under bed tank I guess I could too. Just looking for options.

Actually the rear is just as safe as anywhere especially if your running a bumper.
The saddle tanks weren’t all that bad in the 80’s anyway.

Dealer installed saddle tanks, to add extra fuel capacity to the 67-72 trucks. There were different fill options, a door in the bedside, inside wheel well, and my favorite a cap coming out of the bedside right in line with the one from the cab

We called them saddle tanks back in the 60's-70's. The right side tank was hard to fill with a camper, my Wife would have to stand and block the island so I could turn the pickup around to fuel the right side.
On my LS swap I'm keeping the left side tank, and have it hooked up to an electric fuel pump. Going to use it to transfer fuel to my new rear fuel tank.
