1964 327 pcv setup
Have a cpl questions regarding the pcv setup for a 327...I have the little "dixie cup" attachment for the block and was planning to use it with a hose off of it to a inline pcv valve and connect it to the carb or carb spacer...I am running a performer intake and there is no oil filler neck/breather. So i take it this means i will need to run a breather on my valve covers, correct? Am i setting this up right? do i need breathers on both valve covers?

Yup! Just one breather on one valve cover will work with your rear pcv.

Yes, and if it makes sense, figure out how to put the fresh air inlet in such a way that it sweeps all of the nasty crankcase fumes toward where the PCV valve is. The fresher your crankcase is, the longer the oil stays good.

Re: 1964 327 pcv setup
I think as long as the engine size is in the right range you're probably ok.
If it were me and I needed an inline one I'd consider this one: Standard Motor PCV Valves V112 https://www.summitracing.com/parts/s...QaArL8EALw_wcB I put the Summit link there more for reference. I'd guess the shipping would be way more than the $4 part cost. You can cross reference it and get one at your local parts place. It looks like it might be good because one of the applications is a Buick 350.

Re: 1964 327 pcv setup
That year 327 should have road draft tube off back of intake no pcv in valve cover

Re: 1964 327 pcv setup
If you are trying to retrofit a PCV setup, easiest is to get a set of valve covers from a few years newer SBC. They will have the proper holes for both a breather and PCV valve and you will be using standard parts instead of trying to improvise something. Then you can just plug the draft tube.
I had a 68 Impala with a 327. PCV valve was on the driver's side valve cover and the breather hose ran from the passenger side cover to a small filter in the air filter housing. |
