No kidding, between shipping and no taxes I'm sold. Just wondering what to expect when I order from LMC!

Re: Re-popped bedsides, who's the best maker

I bought all the parts to make a complete bed from GMC Pauls, the bed went together effortlessly with only having to elongate a few bolt holes. The body lines were a little off, but I shimmed the cab up to match. All and all the bed parts all fit great.
BUT, the doors and fenders I bought from GMC Pauls were complete crap and didn't even come close to fitting, the right hand fender had the wrong contour to the point my grill would not fit around the contour. The fender is also 3/8" longer than a stock fender which makes it totally useless. One of my doors had the latch hole was too be and in the wrong location. The other door was 1/4" too wide and was warped. So both doors were totally useless.
ALSO: The radiator support had the headlight welded in the wrong locations, one was 1" off one way the other was over 1-1/2" off the other way. I had to cut them off and reweld them back on.
These vendors have to be aware the stuff they are selling won't fit. I'm not talking they may need some slight modifications, I'm talking totally useless. If someone could make decent sheet metal that fits, they could charge whatever they want, because people would pay extra for sheet metal that will work.
OK, I'm done venting

Re: Re-popped bedsides, who's the best maker

As I stated above, my bed parts from GMC Pauls fit good, but all the other parts didn't even come close to fitting. The doors, front fenders, cab corners were all so far off they were useless.
I do recommend that wherever you do get your parts, have them stripped of the EDP coating and use a good brand of epoxy primer. after you fit check them first of course.
A friend of mine who owns a body shop has hundreds of useless body panels that are so far off, that even the body shop has rejected them. it's an absolute crime what these parts vendors are selling to us. Mabey there should be a forum subject of what parts to stay clear of, if enough of us stop buying these crappy parts, maybe they'll improve the quality of them.

What does 'standard quality' mean on their Goodmark parts? I see some say that and some don't -- the ones that do are cheaper. Does that mean they are defective like standard sheet metal or something?!

LMC is cheaper than partsgeek anyway when you count shipping cost.

Not what the boxes said, nor the distributor (AMD) in Cleveland GA I picked them up from.

Regardless if they're made by Fisher Price, the quality, thickness, and overall fit was impressive. I'd buy from AMD again, no doubt. It's all about the quality control wherever you buy them from.

I just talked to my local parts supplier and he said that he has had good luck with bed sides from LMC and Classic Parts, both located in KC, MO. He indicated that they now both handle the same part. I ordered a pair of '67 short sides when I was talking to him.....

On another note he said that he has stopped handling repo doors and hoods because the quality control is so bad on them.
