I don't know. It just looks like it is undercarb'd to me. It is 12 cylinders after all.

special-K, When putting the '46 together, I debated increasing the tranny and differenial gears to make a quick runner, but after seeing the limit on parts, I settled for the 700R4 to get the overdrive and kept the 4:10 stock '84 rear-end. With the limited recommended 2400rpm. Top speed @ 2400 is about 73 mph, but seldom turn it up that fast, even. The motors are very responsive to the throttle, and if I punch it too hard, with that wild torgue, it will slip the 700R4 on dirt. I do turn it up to 2400 when someone wants to hear those 4 staight pipes under the running boards, but no extended period of time. It will sure make them hold their ears, rattle the walls in a metal shop, and make small kids make a panic run for the doors. I'll never abuse this motor, as I know if it breaks, it may never run again. I probably someday give it to a nice museum dedicated to old farming/ranching stuff west of here a hundred miles. I sure want to try to keep it in good running condition, so maybe she'll still breath "fire and thunder" another 100 years from now.
They are an amazing old engine design, and a pulling brute, but it seems they fell from favor due to fuel consumption. 2-3 mpg isn't very cost effective when compared to diesel power.

Re: The mother of all engines, the GMC Twin-Six V12

Hello again, All: Due to age and health circumstances, I've had to toss the wrenches on the workbench and walk away from the farm, rent the land out and move to town. Still have the toy '46 V-12 snuggled down in the corner of the shop. Try to start it and drive a short distance fairly often, to keep her blood circulating.

A "big Thank YOU to all on the site for all the years of advice, suggestions, and info you've given me all these years. It's been a lot of fun watching your projects as well.

I still check in now and then, tho. Keep twisting the bolts and blowing fire and thunder out there.

The pickup belongs to Bob Wunderman in Wis. He came down here and bought the motor. He did a great job building it, then he and his wife drove it from Wis. to Western Okla to show to us. He said with a big smile, that when he stopped for gas or anything, he could hardly leave because of interested lookers and answering questions.

Beautiful truck, and unique in it's own right. Great job, Bob!
