VDP truck shelf (overhead console) fitment

I am looking to put in an overhead console/shelf in my 72 burb, but I only see listings for 73 and up trucks
http://www.carparts.com/Overhead-Con...temp_Item_Grid

Has anyone tried these for our older models? I am willing to do some work to make it fit, but sometimes you get into the "Can't get there from here" scenario.
Has anyone tried this, or have any other words of wisdom?
Thanks,
Tim

Re: VDP truck shelf (overhead console) fitment

I by no means wish any bad luck upon you but I know a guy that had one similar in his truck and he was involved in a 35 mph frontal accident and his head hit the shelf. It was pretty nasty and that was his only injuries but it almost ended him. Yes, he had his seat belt on but lap belt only in our trucks. I don't know how tall you are but he is about 6' tall. Just use some measurements before you move forward. Again, I wish you no harm.

That had crossed my mind (no pun intended). I will be installing tahoe/silverado/suburban seats with integrated shoulder belts, so I figured it will be less of an issue?
