1972 C10 LWB Georgia Project

Thought I would start a thread about building my truck from just a project. Finding parts and the products I used and things I learned. If it helps someone else great.

Started to weld in door bottoms only to abandon and go to full skins, much easier for the money.

Cab Coming off, again built a simple cart to roll it around on. Maybe 80 bucks in steel from Alro surplus store. 4 guys can lift it no problem. Saves bending things with hoist.

Re: 1972 C10 LWB Georgia Project

Disassembling frame, Frame was very clean and had been sprayed with some type of rust proofer. I decided to clean with large wire brush instead of media stripping.

Re: 1972 C10 LWB Georgia Project

POR 15 was my choice for coating, Chassis black and used a brush, I kind of dabbed it instead of brushing to keep stroke marks off the frame. I am building what I hope to be a Nice Driver quality truck

Re: 1972 C10 LWB Georgia Project

Up front I am using 2.5 drop spindles and 2 inch drop spring from Western Chassis, I would not recommend them, parts are good quality service was not. I would suggest CPP in the future.

New ball joints, tie rods, front sway bar, and shocks, I had called about maybe getting wrong shocks in kit. Western never replied or called back.

Re: 1972 C10 LWB Georgia Project

In the rear I choose to go 2 inch lowering block, 4 inch drop spring and adjustable pan hard bar. 3.73 gears will stay however I will add a posi unit at later date, trying to keep project moving forward.

Re: 1972 C10 LWB Georgia Project

Cylinder heads completed by a buddy that does only heads, surfaced and reassembled. We changed from 1.94 int. and 1.5 exh. to 2.02 and 1.6 stainless valves, pocket and cleaned up intake runners, swirl cut guides, hardened seats, Z28 springs, The heads were 487X castings and 76cc Attachment 1833996
