Difference between 1960-63 cabs

Trying to see what the difference is between the 60 to 63 in the cab area. I cant find any good pictures or sites to tell me the difference. I know there was one site but my brain isn't working.

Re: Difference between 1960-63 cabs

To my knowledge, 1960-62 share pretty well the exact same cab which mount on the X-frame. Then in 1963 they did away with the x-frame, which means the cab mounts differently. There may be more but off the top of my head thats a difference. Of course there are differences in the mounting on the supports of the cabs as the truck size got bigger.

The firewall on the '60-'62 Chevy's and '60-'63 GMC's are designed for a combination brake and clutch master cylinder. 1963 Chevy and 1964 GMC was the first year for a mechanical clutch.

Re: Difference between 1960-63 cabs

thanks for the help, second question is about wiring. I want to replace all of my wiring since its old and not charging. Speculation has I have some 63 stuff on a 60 frame. My regulator is from a 63, key switch and steering wheel. Has a 350 in it, do I buy the wiring from a 60 or a 63?

Re: Difference between 1960-63 cabs

The 63 cab in the parts book is listed as a replacement part for 60-62. You had to drill a second hole on the firewall for the hydraulic clutch setup and to relocate the cab mount reinforcement on the front supports to the center plateau where as the 63 cab mount were on the inner plateau closest to the transmission.
