68 is on the road

This is the 68 6 cylinder 4 speed 4x4 that had the winch on the front. Someone else owns the winch now...
I did some work to the truck in the last few weeks to make it reliable.. Replaced all the oil seals in the driveline including dropping the front differential to do the inner seals. New brake cylinders and hose. Repair wires cut in the past because some guys think the way to fix a bad headlight switch is to cut cut wires. Besides the headlight switch ,replaced the turn signal switch , some light bulbs, fix back up lights and new tail light lenses
The engine showed good compression cam lift and spark but had a low-mid speed misfire in one cylinder. A few weak valve springs caused the lifters to pump up at idle holding the valves open slightly....New valve springs are easy and cheap...
My wife did a utility repair on the seat cover.....
Everything works and the thing goes down the road straight. I like the metallic hiss from the worn 250 and the Rockwell slight whine at speed.

Thanks for the pic Tony. I really love your truck, it's one I considered buying when it was for sale in fact. What's next?

Re: 68 is on the road

Next is the front bumper,... I have one here and trying to paint it so it doesn't look new...And a spare wheel.
The front hubs, aka foot steps, are the NOS Perfect Circle that a guy here liked from Ebay. Imagine me and my wife sitting in the engine compartment on each side to change the valve springs. She fixes antique sewing machine for a hobby and has good hand skills for installing valve keepers while I compress the spring with a homemade tool.
The two of us are in our late 60's and working on these trucks keeps us young...and broke
