2003 yukon smoething buzzing in headliner

I have an 03 Yukon 4x4 basically as loaded as you can get

towards the far left side of the headliner over the drivers head once in a whil I get a humming or buzzing almost like some sort of pump trying to run. I slap the roof and it goes away but will eventually return. What could it be?

I'm not 100%, but I have a Tahoe and have the computer climate system and was told by the dealer that it is a small fan that sucks in cabin air to get a temp reading. Mine was rattling as well and he quoted me 250! I just stuck a paper clip in and out in till you couldn't see it to stop the fan moving .

Is a circle looking thing that has a bunch of holes in it? Cause if it is my moms 2002 burban does that I think there is a short in one of those speakers. Which would explain when you hit headliner it turns off then comes back.

This is exactly what it is. You will also notice them above the driver and passenger area as well for their individual climate control.

Search out for climate control fan - there are several places on forums that give a basic go-by to remove and clean the fan or flat out replace it. You shouldn't have to pull the entire headliner - but access from the side/etc.. It is worth a try. My Mom's 2002 suburban had the same issue. Fairly straight forward to fix. It is NOT a speaker. Push up on the cover and you will hear the pitch change possibly go away. It is a fan.

Interesting. My 2002 Suburban does it too, but only when I'm on the highway at or above the speed limit. I'm glad to find out what it is.
