205 Input Shaft Spline Depth

Just curious-

My nv4500/205 combo is set up using a long input shaft with a AA adapter (spacer ring). If I determine that this setup will require driveshaft mods (longer front/shorter rear) I may consider losing the adapter and swapping the long input shaft for a short input shaft as it may be cheaper in the end.

I'm wondering if its possible to just cut the long shaft down to the short shaft length. I have access to a full machine shop, I would do it on the lathe. My question is, does anyone have a long shaft (32 spline) handy that they could verify how deep the internal splines are? If I end up losing the splines in the process, obviously this wont be an option.

Thanks, Mike
