My '89 Light Duty 2500

Hello all. Long time since I have posted here. I recently picked up this nice ride to be my new daily. I paid $2,500 for it and I think I got a good deal. Here's the stats on it.

1989 Silverado 2500
TBI 5.7
SM-465 4 speed
3.73 axle ratio
locking rear diff
105,543 miles

The original owner purchased this truck brand new from Ft. Worth Tx. They lived in Burleson Tx and bought it to tow a horse trailer to rodeos. They owned the truck and used it up until the late 90's and then it seems to have mostly sat around for the next several years. They sold it about 4 months ago to a guy who bought it for his kid to drive at college. They did a good bit of work to it but the kid broke his arm and couldn't drive a standard so they listed it for sale and I picked it up. When I got the truck I really didn't have to do much to it. Just a new TPS and it had a ground issue which has been corrected. It runs and drives great! The AC is still R-12 and has not been converted, and it does not work currently. One very nice thing is the original owner as well as the guy I purchased it from kept all the receipts for all the repairs done to it. The original owner only ever took it to the local Chevy dealer for everything. I also have the original window sticker.

The plan for this truck is to clean it up some and just drive it. It will be driven almost daily. I do have a 1986 C10 that I drive on nice days. I will repair it when it breaks but I don't plan on modifying it. I would like to keep it as stock as possible. I do need to fix the AC and the muffler has a hole and needs replaced.

Here's some photos for yall. What do yall think?

Re: My '89 Light Duty 2500

I was able to get in contact with the original owner. She explained to me a few things about the truck that I did not know. The original bench seat was taken out and replaced with the much nicer conversion style seats when the truck was new. Also, when those seats were installed she also had the rubber floor liner installed over the original carpet. Since this was done when the truck was brand new, the carpet should still be much like new underneath the rubber. The truck also has a kill switch that they installed when it was new so thats neat. She is very happy to know that the truck is in good hands and being well cared for.

Nice truck! I would love to have a front bench like that for my truck. Have you peaked underneath the rubber floor to check out the carpet yet?
