Re: Engine lifespan

I had an 01 Ext Cab 2wd carrying about 1000lbs in the bed of parts and tools for about 4.5 years and had 365,000 on the motor and trans. Routine service performed every 5k. Was still running strong when sold. Currently have an 04 with 125,000 4x4 ext cab. When in WV back in 04, ran across some GM engineers testing some newer vehicles. Told them about the mileage on the 01 2wd and he said they got a couple of 5.3's in from TX that had 500,000 on them and he said they tore them down and that all of the assemblies were still within tolerance. So as alot of people will state and is also a proven fact, if you service them routinely they can go for quite a few miles.
