Air Intake Support

What are you guys using to support your air intake setups (non-stock). I'm trying to figure out the best way to support a 4" pipe/k&n setup. I got a nifty spectre kit that was advertised as fitting a 4" pipe but the loop it used to hold the pipe was only 4" (exact same diameter as my intake pipe) so it didnt work.

Thanks

Re: Air Intake Support

I used a piece of the intake pipe and built a cradle to support the tube...hose clamp around it holds it solid...the cradle bracket bolts to the core support....

I'd appreciate a pic of that if you have one and have time.

Re: Air Intake Support

I riveted a little hook on the end of intake pipe and hooked it into my core support (my core has a hole in it for the intake to fit through.

Re: Air Intake Support

I made an aluminum support that bolts to the core support and to a small tab I welded to the intake tube. I just picked it up from powder coating today so Ill get it installed and take a pic tomorrow.

Re: Air Intake Support

My intake is on the passenger side . Picture is a little dark but if you study on it you will see one mount point on the head and another forward of it on the belt tensioner bolt . Both points come to a Y then to the intake . I had a small flat thin piece I hammered into the size of the intake tube and welded a couple tabs to put a bolt in . Doubles as a MAF harness holder . The rods were a couple fender support rods I cut up . Just stuff I had laying around .

Re: Air Intake Support

I used a kit from Spectreperformance.com that allowed me to bolt it to the radiator support.

Thats the one I bought and hoped would work but it wouldn't fit my 4" aluminum intake pipe.

Dang. Looks like nearly everybody is having to fabricate something. I'll do some more digging and see what I can figure out. My ability to fab something that I will be HAPPY with is pretty limited. Got some stuff at work I can mess with but it'd probably look more at home on a tractor than on my hot rod....

thanks guys- I really appreciate the input
