Re: Best cheap beer?
Busch Light/Busch for best flavor that wont break your wallet or knock you off your feet. Not the cheapest, but on the cheaper end rather than expensive. I think you have the right idea, sample until you find one you like to keep on stock. One of the stops on the way to the cabin used to have foil wrapped around the tap handle. When you asked what was on tap, the response was "what do you want it to be on tap?"

Re: Best cheap beer?
I never had a Rolling Rock beer until about a year ago, they are good for a cheapie. It doesn't have the cheap beer bite that Natural Light or Milwaukee's Best do. There are so many good craft beers out there but the alcohol is so high in them I end up buying Natural Light.

Re: Best cheap beer?
New one out called Frio. Kind of a “desperation” beer. Think my beer store buddy said it was $3 & some change for a 12 pack. My bil will probably help me out on this.

Re: Best cheap beer?
When I drink beer, I like Keystone Light. Is is the same beer as Coors Light. And it is cheaper. Really the same beer in a different package. Ask the Coors Delivery Driver next time you see him. I have been known to drink Busch and Busch Light when hanging with my brothers....

Re: Best cheap beer?
When I was a teenager, my mom bought me this stuff. It must have been cheap and on a hot day any cold bear is better than no beer. Now I tend to drink the best I can find without concern about price. maybe 4 per week. -BA

Re: Best cheap beer?
Fun story about cheap beer. I was seven years old, and my dad asked me to get him a beer from the fridge. Being the good son that I was, I tried to open it for him. But I was pretty small, and in the process of using the can opener, I shook the can a fair amount. Once I made a puncture, beer sprayed out of the tiny hole I'd made, getting all the way to the kitchen ceiling. I ran around the kitchen, trying to stop the spray, and managed to lose most of the beer before I got to the sink. My mom was pretty annoyed about beer dripping from the kitchen ceiling, but my dad told her that it needed cleaning, anyway. I was in even deeper doo-doo, after that.

Re: Best cheap beer?
Yuengling, America's oldest brewery. On draft it's pretty good. Not too pricy for a 12 pack

Re: Best cheap beer?
That is my favorite beer, Traditional Lager. It is more expensive than most beers here in Indiana though. For cheap beer I would go with PBR. There is a local bar where you can get a PBR tallboy for $2 on certain days of the week.

Re: Best cheap beer?
Back in the late 80's Busch was $1.99 a six pack in Tampa bay , It cost less to buy Busch than a 6 pack of Coca Cola . The kids loved it

Re: Best cheap beer?
I remember genny cream ale from my youth in PA, labatt blue light hasnt seemed to migrate west either. both were cheap and decent, went good with a burger or dog from the grill.
I am mostly a teetotaler lately but, I just got done putting a brake line and a strut on a CRV in 102 degree 57% humidityin the driveway and I sure could have used a cold beer from the bottom of a top load beer fridge, from way down there in the frost.

Another cheap (nasty) beer is BOXER. Buddy of mine gave me one of those one time, only thing I could say is at least it was COLD when he gave it to me. A bit of a story: Many years ago (back in 1969 to be exact) I was 19 years old and part of Uncle Sam's boys in Sunny South East Asia aka Viet Nam. We were on convoy headed north to Bong Song in what was then in the upper north portion of South Viet Nam. Commonly referred to as " 2 Corps" or also as "bandit country" . Stopped for noon break in a "vil" or village and a young Vietnamese girl was selling cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon. Don't recall if had the pull tabs or was a punch style can but since it was sealed in a can figured it was safe from being tampered with. Paid a Buck and a Half for a luke warm beer in 100 degree tropical heat but damn it, it was a beer from back home in the real world! At the time was one of the best worst tasting beers I've ever had,

Re: Best cheap beer?
While Ironhorse was in Nam (and I hope he was getting his 2 a day allotment) I was heading to college, where you could buy cheep beer for a buck a six pack. Busch, Hamms, Schlitz, Falstaff, Pbr. At the time it tasted good. I remember when dad was working in Seattle in 66, he drank only Raineer beer. On the way back, he found one he liked and went back to the liquor store and bought 2 cases. Don't recall the name, but it was 16%. I had to ride back with the beer on the floor under my feet, and he never let me taste it!!
Now I rarely drink anything but craft beer. Am nearing a count of 3,000 different beers. Just poured the last of a 750 ml of a Belgian Farmhouse Ale. Life is good.

Re: Best cheap beer?
In high school we would buy "Ol' Slough Water" (old milwaukee light). Now I drink whatever my nephews bring when they visit. I bet if I look I could find a few cans left from last year's July BBQ

I went to the flat track races on 4th of July. Backed up to track where they are coming out of turn 2, grilled up bratwurst, and drank beer. I usually drink bottled beer but figured can would appropriate. I wanted something above average and wasn't seeing anything that excited me. Then I see Flying Dog "Bleacher Beer" in 20oz cans. Flying Dog is a local micro brewery and they do make some tasty stuff without getting too weird. Never seen it, the name fit the occasion, grabbed, and it was actually a tasty beer with a pretty normal taste. Just good beer. But I also wanted a more regular beer in case some may not want the fancy stuff, so I got a six of PBR. I never drank one at the races, but one was left over and a couple dys later I had it after work and that was a damn good tasting beer. It's been eons since I've had one. I guess it's pretty cheap and it sure is good!
