need project help

Hello everyone
I am a new member and I am looking for info for my next project. I am going to mount a 72 long bed body on an 85 3/4 ton frame. I would appreciate any pics or info you can share. Thanks James

Welcome to the board! Best one in the world, but be careful...it's very addicting

A friend of mine is doing a very similar swap, it's a 72 on an 84 1 ton CC frame, but I would imagine they would be similar. He does have some links to others in his thread.

Re: need project help

The frames are different. the 72 frame is not as wide as 85 frame body bolt locations will have to be modified. Wheel base will be a little shorter on the 72. but it is doable.

Re: need project help

Thanks for the info. I know the frames are different in length but I wasn't sure about the width. I have a buddy who has an old 72 2wd frame that I may use to get measurements off of to make custom mounts. I forgot to mention that this is a 4x4.

Hey James welcome! In my research 68TT got the closest to pulling something very similar to your proposed type of build off. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=1#post3955165 Lots of great info and it is doable but usually more work than most people realize.

Re: need project help

Thanks for the link.
This looks like a lot of good info. I have already shortened the frame and now I'm working on the new body mounts. Wish me luck.
