I really like that blue. You may have said it already, but what color is it?

Ford Grabber Blue. 10-17 Ford Mustang is the application. Ford code M7210, PPG 922601.

There is another c10 that I really liked, and through alot of research I finally found where someone had said it was grabber blue. I looked at some pictures and hunted down a mustang to look at in person and knew this was what I wanted. I was after something that was a little bit brighter than the factory medium blue and was a solid color so it was easier to paint. Alot of the colors I looked at and liked were pretty metallic, something that I didn't want to deal with as a first timer.

Re: sprint_9's 72 C10 Project

Nice. It looks good, and you're absolutely right-on with painting a solid color as a first timer. Much easier to paint, and less likely to show your rookie status in the finished product. I remember spraying test cards years ago as my first attempt at metallic colors... I was getting the dreaded tiger striping a few times. But I was impatient and couldn't wait for it to flash before applying another coat.

Re: sprint_9's 72 C10 Project

Thanks, I am happy with it so far. Ive had to manage my expectations some, but most of it is stuff the average person might not notice. I have to remind myself that Im far from an expert at this, its a learning process and a fun challenge. Its funny you mention rookie status, some of the mistakes Ive made really highlight that, . Fixing those mistakes with a solid color is alot easier for a rookie like me.

Ive been working on wiring, trying to figure out where to run stuff is a job in itself. I have a good game plan now so hopefully things fall into place. I assembled my main battery cables last weekend, they came out really nice. Ive also been working on a relay box for under the hood, I am going to run both hi and low headlights, and both cooling fans off of it.

Looks nice! Is it rated to 1.21 jigawatts?

I need to do something similar, as well. Still following along.

Been plugging away on wiring. I had my front chassis harness all but done, and then decided I wanted to run halo lights after the fact. No big deal to run halo lights but I want them to act as daytime running lights, so I had to re position my relay wiring, and run an ignition wire to switch on a relay.

I started buffing on my doors, 1 door almost done so far. I really hope the rest turns out this good. I cant recommend Southern Polyurethanes enough, outstanding products. I never thought Id achieve results like this.

Re: sprint_9's 72 C10 Project

Thank you.

Got my drivers door done. Started on my passenger door, long story short, I screwed up on it a few weeks ago, and the result was I ended up burning through. Stupid on my part, but re-clearing it this week sometime.

After that I started on the passenger fender, just an initial cut on that so far. Ive also made some good headway on wiring. Ive got the rear box harness, headlights, and most of the interior left, the rest of the wiring is coming along pretty good. I finally got my headlights, so I can finish that part of it. I mocked them up and Im in love with them. I am waiting until I get my seats back from upholstery before I finalize my engine computer location, but fortunately it sounds like my upholstery guy might finally start on things this next week.

Re: sprint_9's 72 C10 Project

Couple more pictures. It took me a little bit, but Im really happy with how the passenger side of the engine turned out, wiring and heat protection.

Father in law found the original manual and some paper work, its in great shape.

Re: sprint_9's 72 C10 Project

Thanks everyone. I got my steering column, vent windows, and other various parts for those items either in epoxy or painted black and cleared. I have a feeling its going to be harder to put the vent windows back together than it was to take them apart.

I saved the best for last, had my fender in the sun this afternoon. Had a few light scratches to get out, took it in and got them out. Then I put a close to final polish on it, and by the time that was done it was sunset. Man what a time to admire paint. I just hope the rest of the truck comes out this good. I still cant believe I did this.

Re: sprint_9's 72 C10 Project

Wish I could get my passenger door to look like that. Its headed back into the paint booth tomorrow after another screw up. I was ready to put all this stuff in storage last night, but I woke up in a better mood today. Learning the hard way as of late.
