What's the avg. Psi for stock fuel pump

Ran into a problem. I don't know if my stock fuel pump has too high of fuel pressure or if I have a needle valve sticking in my carb. The manual from Edelbrock says to run a max of like 6.6 psi. Just wondering if I need to plumb in a regulator.

If you have an Edelbrock carb, it's been reported that no more than 4.5 to 5 psi should be run in the line from the pump to the carb. I would suggest getting some sort of pressure reading before spending money on a regulator.

What, exactly are the symptoms of the problem you've run into? Or are you just trying to confirm you shouldn't need a regulator?
Generally speaking, you shouldn't need a regulator for any stock or replacement carb when running a mech pump - the carbs are designed to run on the stock fuel pressure, which is around 5-6ish psi usually. But you could insert a pressure gauge in the line or at the inlet to see what's being delivered if you're trying to troubleshoot a problem.

My stock mechanical fuel pump (checked last year) was between 5 and 6 psi. Not positive but I think it was closer to 6.

My carb is flooding awful. So I didnt know if my float at a hole in it or something like that. I have never had this problem before so I wouldn’t think the fuel pump would be pumping too much psi. Someone told me to check it out for sure though

Yes, you need a regulator with their carb. Or the Edelbrock fuel pump with no regulator. I haven't looked in awhile, but I believe Edelbrock recommends 5.5 psi. Also, they recommend a carb spacer to cure hard starting from fuel percolation. Double check your float height too. May be a good time to clean it out and rebuild it if needed
