TH350 Hunk's of metal in "Rebuilt" Transmission
Hey guys I'm trying to identify what these chunks of metal are from that I found when I pulled my transmission pan to change the filter and put in new fluid in my newly purchased transmission. It was supposedly rebuilt 5,000 miles ago along with the engine. Just wanting to know what I'm walking into if I attempt to rebuild it whether I'll just need a normal rebuild kit or more. I have this trans as well as the original 700R4 that I don't think has been touched before and If I need a full rebuild which would you recommend to do. Engine is a 383 putting out around 430 hp. Thanks, hopefully someone can help out.

Re: TH350 Hunk's of metal in "Rebuilt" Transmission
Looks like the Intermediate Sprag Race busted & The Sprag came apart.
Pure speculation 'till its tore down. The TH350 will be cheaper, And hold more power than a 700R4. The TH350 (If the sprag did blow) will need a Direct Drum, Intermediate steels, Intermediate Sprag race (Get a hardened one), Sprag, & generally the Intermediate clutch return spring cage is wiped out as well. Along with a rebuild kit, Bushings, Pump gears & converter. |

That seems more plausable to me. I took the pieces to a local tranny shop and the guy said it looked to him like planetary gears but the pieces are quite thin. Theres some thicker pieces (expectedly the race), and some really thin pieces (probably the sprag). You can see on the piece to the left that theres a rectangular cutout which to me looked like the side to a bearing. I'm probably going to pull it apart before I order anything to find out more.
