Re: Calling all 47-54 Suburbans/carryall's/panels

Here are a few pictures of my panel I have been building for about 12 years. It sits on a 1981 malibu wagon frame and has a 402 BB ,350 trans and a 9" F#$% rear.

48 GMC BURB, That stinks. I will be there so I will look for it if they come up. No it still is not on the road. I have too many other ones I am working on right now. Hoping for next year. I go to Shrewsberry a lot. That is a good cruizin.

Re: Calling all 47-54 Suburbans/carryall's/panels

48 GMC BURB, the numbers were down, as for the vendors they were too. Over 10 years ago it was the best. They would allow campers and it was busy cruising till midnight. Now the place is dead after 5:00. I think the NSRA greed has set in. They wack everybody who wants to come in see the cars $15 and the vendors pay a lot of money for a space. The way the economy is that is too much. And they wonder way the numbers are down. And the post 1948 cars were not as many as it could have been. I wonder if they most figured that the NSRA did not want them years ago, that since there numbers are down now they do want them to bring the numbers up. I like to see all the cars and trucks and that is way I like the Goodguys shows. Sorry for the rant.

Re: Calling all 47-54 Suburbans/carryall's/panels

not2oldchevy, No it was not to bad. I used a G body frame and lengthened it and cut the back section of the frame off behind the coil spring perches and replaced it with 2x4 box tube. I made my own rocker panels and the g body frame is close to the rocker panel. I did not buy any of the panels and I think I did the rockers and then had to modify the inner doors, but they were rusty and need fixed anyway. The frames are cheap and I did not have to use any spacers up front.
