Re: Tranny / tcase problem

So I have a TH350 with the 205 case and the side bracket is there and rubber is worn out on side mount. I replaced the transmission with a new TH350, installed new energy suspension mounts to the crossmember and put the side bracket back. should I remove the side bracket? can the adapter plate hold the transfer case? Really? remove the side bracket or get new rubber for it? my 4x4 is mainly a street wheeler and never got off road

thanks guys

Matt

Re: Tranny / tcase problem

I think this thread already answers your question. Ditch it! The transfer case will be just fine by the adapter itself. I always removed the side brackets when present. Cracked a few adapters in my time, I was hard on them tho. There will always be the argument of "yay or nay", just like Ford vs Chevy.... Well not on this site its NOT!!!

Re: Tranny / tcase problem

Just thought I would add this in here... my brother has a 79 bronco with a 205. It's driver side drop. It has a side mount. Not too much different than the ones we have on our trucks.

Fords bust transfer case adapters too.

Re: Tranny / tcase problem

How can you tell if your transfer case adapter is cracked? I can't see one but when I come to a stop a hear and feel a clunk under my floor.

If yours was cracked, you'd be dumping oil on the ground. With 150 lbs hanging there, once it cracks it's falling off

The thought of driving around and having that happen gives me chills. Another reason to like my divorced case.
