Did Hickey make a diff cover for the GM corporate 10 bolt front? Would love to have one for my 77 K/10.

Is this a sidewinder winch? I just picked one up similar to this from a member here. It is a bit massive. It doesn't look like pics I've seen of Hickey sidewinder winches.

Re: who's got all the hickey enterprises parts stashed?

I'm pretty sure yours is a Ramsey/Hickey winch, mine looks similar. Do a search on Ramsey winches, lots of stuff out there I saw in the brief time I spent looking last night.

I would like to thank doo142 for giving me the chance to buy this Hickey cadillac carrier. Can't wait to restore this for my blazer. The can clamps work great too.

I have to do some work to it. Right now it will only hold a 31" tire and my 10" wide wheels are not even close to fitting either. Also needs a latch on the drivers side mounted to the truck. I'll be adding a hi-lift jack mount too. But overall very happy to get this early Hickey part.

Will be strong enough to hold the hi reach, and all that other stuff in it s present configeration?

Re: who's got all the hickey enterprises parts stashed?

Maybe? I need to mount it first, so I can get a real idea of strength. I'm most worried about the top hinge mount.

Well, if you fill those jerry cans @ roughly 6# a gallon, and the spare, and the hi lift.....i agree those hinges are going to need to be pretty beefy. LMK what you come up with

Re: who's got all the hickey enterprises parts stashed?

Weight totals:

full of gas jerry can *2 35.7 lbs.
15 x 10 aluminum wheel 22.0 lbs.
35 Baja t/a tire 64.6 lbs.
hi-lift extreme jack 29.2 lbs.
carrier 37.1 lbs.

Fully loaded 188.6 lbs.

Not to bad. I will be making a new top hinge, like the more common Hickey/Valley style carrier. Might make a new lower hinge too. Not many people want to drill holes in a nice chrome bumper these days.

Yeah but, then you add force, and we both know there are some really bad trails out there.....well, if form follows function, i d say, drill holes. I m not building a show truck.

Or, you could put all that stuff in the bed, i m just saying, i think your carrior will look pretty sweet

Re: who's got all the hickey enterprises parts stashed?

Just my humble opinion but anything with that much weight should be frame mounted and not body mounted. I'm not sure I understand how that piece gets mounted, looks like the lower bracket gets mounted to the bumper and the upper and drivers side to the body? This is a bad plan if that is the case, the bumper is frame mounted, the body is rubber mounted to the frame, these two move in different planes.

Also I don't know about this particular piece, but the original and typical Hickey swing away tire carrier I believe had a warning in the catalog about not to be used with larger tires, and the typical larger tires then where 31x10.50x15s.

I'm just concerned you may have higher expectations for this than it can really do without causing long term damage to your truck. That said I had one of the body mounted, smaller typical Hickey carriers on mine with a stock sized tire, I'm not sure there was ever a jerry can on it, mounted to the body only and it didn't deform the sheet metal any in what I assume was the 40 years it was on the truck.

Re: who's got all the hickey enterprises parts stashed?

This will definitively take some work but it will get done. I'm just stupid enough to spend 10 times what its worth just to have it done.

^^^^^^

I saw a guy on here cut a rectangle in his bedsides to mount the jerry cans, looked pretty cool, necessity is the mother of invention

Go for it.....
