Stock 2003 radio issues.

Hello,

I have a 2003 CCSB 1500HD LT truck, and the factory radio all the sudden will not make a sound. The unit is on and everything works except the fact that no sound comes out of the speaker. I tried switching inbetween radio/CD function and turning the radio off and back on again, but it didn't work. I pulled the fuse box cover on the driver side trying to find the radio fuse, but that isn't labeled. My guess is that the factory amp blew, but I wanted to see if anyone else had any ideas.

Re: Stock 2003 radio issues.

Do you still hear the door chime with key off and door open? If not then it is usually the amp especially if you have the Bose system. We have had a few in our shop with this problem and all of them have been the amp. However that being said my own Tahoe has the problem intermittently but when I loose sound I also have problems with the four wheel drive switch, power seat memory, mirrors and occasionally the rear view mirror goes nuts and starts flashing all crazy. Have figured out its the body control module on mine but its too expensive for me to justify replacemnt yet since its so intermitent. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Re: Stock 2003 radio issues.

Thanks! I did not hear the chimes anymore when this happened so it is the amp. Well, when I got in my truck this morning to my surprise the radio works now. I guess that the amp had overheated, so I will be looking for a replacement in the meantime.
