Floor covering options? (Cheap)

Wondering if anyone have any ideas to cover the floorboards while driving and working on the truck before rust repair, etc is finished and I get to the stage of laying insulation and carpet down?

I remember months back at a junkyard I saw a big rubber mat that was like a universal 1 piece floor mat that covered the front of the cab but can’t seem to find anything like it online other than the replacement rubber mats sold on LMc, etc

Thanks for any advice

I’m kicking myself for not grabbing it at pick n pull oh well.

That one looked like it was from the 80s

I’ll go look again this weekend

Re: Floor covering options? (Cheap)

I really wanted to buy some made to fit floor covering but the cost of shipping was prohibitive. So I went to Home Depot and bought a roll of black stair runner material and cut it to fit. I think it was less than $25. Doesn’t do much for sound dampening but sure looks better. I put one piece in each foot area that also goes up the firewall a ways. I need to buy more to cover the hump. Not perfect but it works for now. If I ever get to replacing floor pans and rockers I’ll spring for the “real” floor covering then.

Re: Floor covering options? (Cheap)

I don’t have pics yet but...at Lowe’s I found a 6’x8’ roll of precut carpet in remnant section. (Although it’s not exactly a remnant). It’s thin with a bit of ridged pattern. Actually could pass for auto carpet. More than large enough for the cab are of my k5. Only two colors at my Lowe’s. Dark grey and tan. 1 can of carpet paint should cover it though (wish I’d thought if that before install lol). Its easy to work with because it’s thin. 1 qt. Of contact cement slathered on cab and back of carpet was plenty. For $30 I’m more than happy with the results.
